A family business serving horticulture since 1958, now in its third generation and currently employing 13 people. Founder Ernst Hormes introduced the 24 V motor drive, setting a milestone in irrigation boom construction. Competitors have often copied this drive system without matching its quality. Working with the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Agriculture, a new irrigation boom was developed as part of the Water Framework Directive. The Exaktgießwagen for outdoor pot plant production is now ready for practical use. It delivers water precisely to the centre of each pot, saving water and reducing nutrient input into groundwater. This technology can save up to 50% of irrigation water for smaller pots and up to 75% for larger pots. The Exaktgießwagen is a registered utility model of Rathmakers Gartenbautechnik GmbH.

Standard widths: 13.20 m / 21.20 m / 25.20 m / 29.20 m / 33.20 m; all widths up to 51.0 m are available on request. We also offer solutions for non-rectangular growing areas. Where the short sides have different lengths, special long-range nozzles ensure adequate irrigation of the outer areas along the long sides (maximum reach: 5 m).
Improvements in the second version
- The larger, more stable triangular lattice structure has through-openings that also make it suitable for roller tracks or conveyor belts.
- Liquids are no longer carried through the structure itself but through PE pipes, minimising frost damage and corrosion.

Differences from the standard model:
- A trapezoidal structure with a 50 cm-wide support surface is used for roller tracks and conveyor belts.
- The maximum span is 35 m. The outdoor transport irrigation boom is always supplied with two support wheels.
Both types of irrigation boom can run with their support wheels on woven ground cover, soil or concrete.
